September is Attendance Awareness Month. This month focuses on emphasizing the importance of regular school attendance to support student achievement and a positive school environment, with a common theme being that present-day attendance lays the groundwork for future success. Research shows that students who attend school more than 90% of the time perform better on standardized tests and have better overall grades compared with peers who are in school less. Students with higher rates of attendance have fewer disciplinary problems in and out of school, and greater opportunity and success in their post-secondary education and careers.
This month your Advisory and grade level will have its attendance tracked as a group. The Advisory class with the best overall attendance for the month, and the Advisory with the largest growth in attendance from the beginning to the end of the month will receive a Dewey's Pizza lunch. Additionally, the grade level with best overall attendance for the month, and the grade level with the largest growth in attendance from the beginning to the end of the month will receive donuts during Advisory.
Weekly updates on your Advisory’s and your grade level’s progress will be shared during the month.
