The Eco Club will be recycling throughout the building during lunch on Feb. 11-12 (weather permitting). Arrive at room 205 at the beginning of lunch for the first shift or at 12:25 p.m. for the second shift. Everyone is welcome! This earns service time (for senior service, NHS, and State Seal)! We'll also be doing some planning for the Club Greenspace!

It's that time of year! If you are in eighth grade planning to try out for the Oakwood High School girls soccer team in the fall, Futsol is beginning in The Pit starting on Sunday Jan. 11 from 7:30-9 p.m. This is NOT mandatory. It is just a time to get together as a team, play and have some fun. It will continue every Sunday after Jan. 11. Please come if you can! My Hundley is inviting all 7-12th graders to his Monday and Thursday after-school fitness club. All fitness levels welcome. Buckeye Boys State is a free 8-day "Hands On" experience in the operation of the Democratic form of government The program takes place Jun. 8-15 at Miami University. If interested, make a copy of the application (link), type in your information and email it to Mr. Woessner by Feb. 14. Applications must be word processed, as they will not consider any that are handwritten.

Buckeye Girls State is a free 8-day "Hands On" experience in the operation of the Democratic form of government, the organization of political parties, and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio Government. The program takes place Jun. 8-14 at Bowling Green State University. Students must be available for the entire 8 days in order to apply. If interested, go to the Buckeye Girls State webpage and complete the Nomination Form and email to vicky@alaohio.org. While there is not a stated due date, it is recommended that the nomination be sent in by Feb. 14 at the latest. See Mr. Woessner with any questions.

FSA (FLOC Student Advisors) are having a candy sale on Fridays at lunch at the senior chairs. All money goes directly to provide inner city students with school supplies-also if students bring an item of formal wear, they get two free candies or snacks!

Senior scholarship information and applications are on the district website's Oakwood City Schools Scholarship page. Local and Foundation scholarships are due by 4 p.m. on March 7, 2025. Random individual applications with different due dates and the Oakwood Foundation and Local Scholarship applications can be found on the Oakwood City Schools Scholarship page. Students are encouraged to check the website regularly for updates. Don't hesitate to contact your school counselor, Mrs. Desch, or Mrs. Fiore for more information.
Summer School packets will be available in the OJH or OHS offices starting Tuesday, Feb. 11. Summer School sign-ups will begin on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 8 a.m. for current sophomores and juniors. Sign-ups for all other students interested will begin on Monday, Mar 3. at 8 a.m., and continue through Friday, Mar 4 at 3:15 p.m. Registration for summer classes will take place in the Senior High Book Room. No early or mail-in registrations will be accepted. Courses are for current 8th -11th graders only.
Each advisory class will be given a box and your goal as a class is to raise the most money and beat the other advisories! All of the proceeds will be used to help build a well in Uganda. The advisory that raises the most money will get a party of their choosing! You can bring in money any time from Monday, Jan. 27, until Friday, Feb. 14. Good luck!
